Make a statement –
3 trendy alternatives to the basic white T-shirt

Basic Shirt

Everyone is sure to have at least one basic white T-shirt in their wardrobe. A universal styling wonder that doesn’t just cut a fine figure with blue jeans, it also ensures a fashionable entrance in combination with a leopard print skirt. But if you think that that’s all this textile evergreen can offer, then you are sadly mistaken. Read on to find out just how much fashion potential this “simple basic piece” has to offer and how you can integrate it into your wardrobe.

A message for eternity

Let’s start with a bit of fashion history. In the mid-1980s, the British fashion designer Katherine Hamnett rose to international fame with her political T-shirts. As the basis for her designs, she used a sustainable, basic white T-shirt, which the St. Martin’s School of Art & Design alumnus embellished with a black slogan. The slogans usually draw attention to political, societal and ecological issues. This was a milestone in the history of fashion. Hamnett’s idea has since served countless creatives as the simplest but most eye-catching way to express a certain message via one of the most simple pieces of clothing. At Jane Lushka, we continue this tradition and feature in our collection trendy T-shirts with extraordinary and personal slogans.

Pants Ida

Let the flowers do the talking

There is still a few months to go before the floral splendour of spring returns. Until then, we will help pass the time with the “Frankie Flowers T-shirt” from the current Jane Lushka collection. This top in a classic round neck design features a high-quality metallic print on the front with the slogan “No rain, no flowers”. The top’s positive message is supported by the casual combination with the “Ida” leopard print trousers. The relaxed composition is completed by the trend piece “Patty”, the long cardigan. The long, fine knit cardigan in a warm ochre tone gives the outfit its timeless nonchalance.

A special adventure

We are currently very restricted in terms of travel, but our thoughts can still whisk us away to far-off destinations. We capture this longing to travel with a casual, feminine styling composition and tone it down a little. The focus is on our basic T-shirt style “Frankie”, which lives up to our spirit of adventure with its high-quality, metallic “Adventure” print. In order to give the casual character a feminine note, we opt for the “Fiona” midi skirt, which features a high-quality big cat print. If you like, you can add a pair of opaque stockings.

Basic Shirt

From the bottom of my heart

Our next basic T-shirt candidate has won our heart in the truest sense of the expression. Once again adopting the basic T-shirt style “Frankie", this one is all about love, which we symbolise with a red, stylised Jane Lushka heart with “Jane Lushka” lettering. This special T-shirt goes great with many different pieces. We went for a special composition. We see the cult T-shirt in a modern businesswear interpretation in an ensemble comprising the short, fitted blazer jacket “Easy Wear Blazer Roma” and the trousers “Esmee”.

There’s only one black: black is black! During the cold and dark season, you need to show your obscure side sometimes. Jane Lushka’s jumpsuit “Easy Wear Diana” comes in dark shades from grey to black, of course. Solid lace-up boots fit perfect and wearing them over the legs looks pretty cool. The black “Donna” jacket is the icing on the cake and the soundtrack by Billie Eilish.

You are curvy and want to accentuate your curves? Then, the asymmetric skirt “Silviya” is perfect for you: it sits on the waist, tapers off in the front and is slit to the knee. Your legs will look long and slim – especially if you pair it with high heels or pointed ankle boots. Thanks to its sophisticated A-line, “Silviya” provides each of your steps spark and lightness. You have plenty of room to move while looking pretty elegant – with an effortless, French touch.

Fashionable love affair: our rose looks for spring fever to go

Rosé

Rose is reserved for young girls and makes them look prissy. Whoever believes in this old wives’ tale is barking up the wrong tree. The colour carries a power inside that can be expressed with the right styling. Therefore, you should never be too shy when wearing pastel shades – they love bold yet stylish combinations highlighting your personality. This means in other words that you should opt for contrasting outfit combos. You need a hand? How about the powerful combination of “Praga”, the blazer in a soft blush shade and leopard print and “Anna”, the slim fit made of high-end techno fabric? Contemporary, elegant and appealing – your trend colour outfit is ready to go in the twinkling of an eye. By combining “Lora”, the shirt with high collar and ruffled detail, you achieve an elegant look while the t-shirt with the metallic print adds a casual touch.

Function meets Fashion – How to style layering looks

Styling-Tipp

In terms of layering, we often forget an important aspect because it seems a bit demanding. But fashion pros love it: playing with different fabrics and materials. It is pretty easy when you begin to play with a simple basic, like black pants, for example, whether in a shiny or casual material or in denim. In combination with a sporty hoodie, the “Grace V-Neck” top turns into pure understatement despite its lurex shimmer. Just make sure that “Grace V-Neck” peeps out at the cuffs for example. Or wear the hoodie like a scarf. But that’s not all: by topping it off with a blazer, you achieve the perfect mix of business chic, glamour and street style in one outfit.

Rachel, Ross, Joey, Phoebe, Monica and Chandler – in the nineties, the US American sitcom and its loveable yet chaotic protagonists provoked a big hype. Not only the fun plots around the friend and love life of a New York clique proved a recipe for high viewing figures. The different characters, reflecting that generation’s sense of life in a humorous yet genuine way, reached cult status in no time. Fans could identify with their darlings to a point, that the looks of the series got copied – think of Jennifer Aniston’s iconic Rachel cut, being worn by female fans all around the globe at that time.
